Fix: Prevent Chat Overflow and Preserve Panel Controls

Summary

This PR fixes a layout issue in the Continue VS Code extension where long responses, code blocks, terminal outputs, and wide tables could cause the chat interface to expand beyond the available panel boundaries, clipping messages and hiding essential controls.

Changes

  • Fix flexbox sizing to prevent horizontal overflow.
  • Constrain code blocks, terminal outputs, and Markdown tables to their containers.
  • Improve responsive behavior in narrow and bottom-docked panels.
  • Keep input fields and Send/Stop controls accessible.
  • Add regression tests to prevent future layout issues.

Validation

  • 99/99 browser layout tests passed.
  • 378/378 GUI tests passed.
  • 86/86 extension tests passed.
  • 6/6 dedicated regression tests passed.
  • TypeScript checks and production builds passed.
  • Manually verified in the VS Code Extension Development Host.

Result: A more stable and responsive Continue interface, regardless of conversation length or panel size.

CI follow-up: The JetBrains job failed during FFmpeg 7.1 setup, before the actual tests started (xz: File format not recognized). The GUI, VS Code, Core, and VS Code E2E checks passed.

Could a maintainer please rerun the failed JetBrains job or investigate the FFmpeg download?

The Snyk security check also reports an error. Could someone with access to the organization's Snyk integration investigate?

Thank you!
