Disable automatic update on MacOs?

Hi!

Mac in our company dont have admin rights so I'm looking for a way to disable the automatic update...

I've tried to push the following payload but without success:

Thanks for raising this. We are tracking it as an issue and have a fix in progress that adds an in-app "Automatically check for updates" toggle in General settings, so you can disable background update checks without admin rights (manual "Check for updates" still works).

Thank you for adding the “Automatically check for updates” setting. This addresses the individual user scenario, but enterprise administrators also need a centrally managed and enforceable option.

As an enterprise administrator, I need to disable automatic update checks and automatic installation of updates for the GitHub Copilot app on macOS through an MDM-managed preference or configuration profile.

This is required so that we can:

• Test and approve new versions before broad deployment.
• Align releases with organisational change-management and technology standards.
• Maintain a consistent, supported version across managed devices.
• Prevent update prompts and installation failures for standard users who do not have administrator privileges.
• Deploy approved updates through our existing software-management tooling.

Ideally, GitHub would document supported managed preferences (such as a configuration-profile payload) for separately controlling:

• Automatic update checks.
• Automatic downloading or installation of updates.
• Whether users may override the organisation-managed setting.
• Manual “Check for updates” availability.

The existing in-app setting is helpful, but it is user-controlled and must be configured individually. An MDM-enforceable setting is needed for managed enterprise environments.
