this repo uses pnpm workspaces with catalogs, which is a pnpm-specific feature. npm doesn't understand the catalog: URL scheme and will fail immediately.

use pnpm instead:

corepack enable        # uses the version pinned in packageManager field
pnpm install

or install pnpm directly: npm install -g pnpm@10, then pnpm install. the packageManager field in package.json pins the version to pnpm@10.26.1.
