Just tried to submit via devtools and got a 404 not found with no other info:

Error in `httr2::req_perform()`:

Run `rlang::last_trace()` to see where the error occurred.
Which is no doubt due to the fact that:

CRAN submission are closed from Aug 5, 2026 to Aug 19, 2026 (CRAN team vacation and maintenance work).
It would be nice to have a message that directed the user to check that page if the URL is not found.
