v1.63.0

🔒 Test locks

Tests that access a shared resource — an external service, a global account setting — can now declare a named lock. Tests that share a lock name never run concurrently, across files, workers and projects, while everything else keeps running in parallel:

test('update user settings', { lock: 'user-settings' }, async ({ page }) => {
  // never runs at the same time as other tests holding 'user-settings'
});

A test can hold multiple locks, and test.describe() accepts a lock for the whole group. Learn more about test locks.

🪟 Locate across frames

page.frameLocator() and frame.frameLocator() called without a selector search in any frame of the subtree, so you no longer need to locate the iframe first:

// Finds the button in any frame on the page.
await page.frameLocator().getByRole('button').click();

The rest of the locator resolves inside a single frame, just like a regular locator, and an error is thrown when it matches elements in several frames.

👁️ Visible-only locators

New locator.visible() returns a locator that matches only visible elements. It is the recommended replacement for the :visible CSS pseudo-class:

await page.locator('button').visible().click();

🧾 Step params and subtitles

Steps now carry structured data for reporters. Playwright API steps report the target locator and call arguments, and test.step() accepts subtitle and params options for your own steps:

await test.step('Login', async () => {
  // ...
}, { subtitle: 'as admin', params: { user: 'admin' } });

Reporters receive them via testStep.subtitle and testStep.params. For Playwright API

Updates astro from 7.1.6 to 7.3.5

Release notes

Sourced from astro's releases.

astro@7.3.5

Patch Changes

  • #17736 2b8b2e8 Thanks @ematipico! - Adds a new container function called renderComponent(), which renders Astro components with inlined styles and scripts.

    Users must import the component with the new ?container query string:

    import { experimental_AstroContainer } from "astro/container";
    import TodoList from "../components/TodoList.astro?container";
    const container = await experimental_AstroContainer.create();
    const _string = container.renderComponent(TodoList);

astro@7.3.4

Patch Changes

  • #18063 40896ac Thanks @adamchal! - Fixes incremental builds repeatedly rendering unchanged pages when modules or compiled CSS reference bundled assets.

  • #18053 cf5d72f Thanks @Princesseuh! - Improves the astro check error shown for TypeScript 7. The command now explains that TypeScript 7 is not currently supported and provides instructions for experimentally type-checking Astro files with TypeScript 7.1 and @astrojs/ts-content-mapper.

  • #18086 795a7e4 Thanks @ump45nose! - Fix double-escaped ampersands in Markdown image alt and title attributes. The __ASTRO_IMAGE_ round-trip now decodes the numeric (&) and named (&) character references the Markdown processors emit, so an & in an alt or title is escaped exactly once in the final HTML instead of twice.

  • #18074 0429805 Thanks @SurefireStudios! - Fix three error names that did not match their documented reference. MissingLocale, MissingIndexForInternationalization and NoManifestAvailable reported names ending in Error in the dev overlay, while their error reference pages are published under the unsuffixed names, so the name shown to users could not be found in the docs.

  • #18007 2245837 Thanks @L4XB! - Fixes the dev server re-evaluating the whole server module graph on every request. The astro:head-metadata plugin invalidated its component metadata virtual module from its own transform hook, so each evaluation of that module scheduled the next one. Adapters that run requests outside Vite's module runner, such as @astrojs/cloudflare, paid for a full re-evaluation of the server graph on every request for the lifetime of the process.

  • #18096 43657c4 Thanks @matthewp! - Fixes domain-based i18n routing to respect security.allowedDomains when selecting a locale from request host headers

  • #18043 8a53a8b Thanks @astro-factory! - Fixes image.responsiveStyles emitting invalid object-position CSS values for same-axis keyword pairs (top bottom, left right, etc.)

  • #18029 c08252d Thanks @matthewp! - Runs astro dev and astro preview in the foreground when an AI agent is detected on Windows, allowing the agent to manage the process lifetime. Pass --background explicitly to request an Astro-managed background process. Agent-inferred backgrounding remains enabled on other platforms.

  • Updated dependencies [3fd16ee, 8358d59]:

    • @astrojs/markdown-satteri@0.4.2

astro@7.3.3

Patch Changes

  • #17651 504333c Thanks @sxzz! - Refactors internal version handling to use a smaller, ESM-native dependency

  • #17942 0bc5715 Thanks @matthewp! - Returns appropriate 400 and 404 responses from the image endpoint for invalid and missing local image paths

  • #17700 b2222fc Thanks @winklemad! - Fixes Astro.preferredLocaleList returning an empty list when a locale is configured with the object form ({ path, codes }) and the browser sends the code with different casing or an underscore, such as en-US matching a configured en-us

  • #17941 394ff79 Thanks @matthewp! - Fixes astro preview --ignore-lock (and astro dev --ignore-lock) being refused when run from an AI agent environment. The flag now starts the server in the foreground instead of erroring, since agent detection only inferred background mode and was never explicitly requested. An explicit --background combined with --ignore-lock still errors.

  • #17928 3277927 Thanks @ArmandPhilippot! - Fixes TypeScript autocompletion for getImage() to suggest all available predefined options.

Updates mermaid from 11.4.1 to 12.1.0

Release notes

Sourced from mermaid's releases.

mermaid@12.1.0

Minor Changes

  • #8303 9140716 Thanks @filipsajdak! - feat: add the elk.orientFeedbackEdges option, enabled by default. With the ELK layout, an edge from a node that a subgraph feeds back into that subgraph is now routed downstream instead of around the subgraph. This changes the layout of existing ELK diagrams that contain such edges; set elk.orientFeedbackEdges: false to keep the previous routing.

  • #8250 fd4f5f2 Thanks @kartben! - feat: add a bitOrder option to packet diagrams. It defaults to ascending, which is the current behaviour, and descending mirrors every row so it reads from that row's highest bit down to its lowest. Fields are still declared lowest bit first and keep their width, so switching a diagram between the two conventions only means changing bitOrder.

Patch Changes

  • #8330 50c9e55 Thanks @ashishjain0512! - fix: upgrade chevrotain to 13 so mermaid no longer pulls in vulnerable lodash-es@4.17.23

  • #8259 4c90f5c Thanks @afonsojanu! - fix(sequence): allow whitespace between an actor name and its @{ ... } config object

    participant Bob@{ "type" : "database" } parsed fine, but adding a single space before the config object (participant Bob @{ "type" : "database" }) failed with a confusing parse error, even though the plain form without a config object tolerates trailing whitespace just fine.

  • #8339 c7fa1a5 Thanks @ashishjain0512! - fix: keep ELK class-diagram cardinalities off namespace frames

  • #8334 d67331d Thanks @ashishjain0512! - fix(class): place cardinality labels beside their relation ends on dagre's sides with ELK, centre dagre's end labels, and stop clipping their text

  • #8344 99a050b Thanks @pbrolin47! - fix: with the ELK layout, an edge label could sit up to 16px beside its edge instead of centred on it, when the edge's terminal jog was straightened after the label's position was computed. The label is now re-projected onto the straightened route

  • #8276 3101c7d Thanks @mir-ashiq! - fix(error): show the actual error message in the error diagram

    When a diagram fails to parse, the error diagram now draws the real error message below the "Syntax error in text" headline, wrapped to at most four lines. Hosts that only show the SVG (GitHub, GitLab, Obsidian, exported images) no longer hide what actually went wrong, e.g. that the flowchart edge limit was exceeded and maxEdges needs raising via mermaid.initialize.

  • #8296 aa29345 Thanks @pentaoa! - fix: preserve explicit source relations on event modeling reset frames

  • #8297 967bbde Thanks @pentaoa! - fix: reject duplicate event modeling frame IDs before rendering

  • #8337 147f343 Thanks @knsv-bot! - fix: a flowchart that declares the same subgraph id more than once now renders as one merged subgraph with the ELK layout instead of producing NaN geometry. Classes and view: collapsed set on a repeated subgraph now apply to it, whichever declaration they follow.

  • #8203 40ef7b4 Thanks @MFA-G! - perf(frontmatter): replace the quadratic front matter regex on hot paths

    frontMatterRegex backtracks polynomially on whitespace-heavy input, so a diagram well inside the default maxTextSize could stall parsing for over a second. detectType and extractFrontMatter now use a linear scanner that matches the regex result exactly, leaving no document stripped differently.

  • #8254 351d7d2 Thanks @galshir! - fix: warn when a gantt task references an unknown after/until task id, or when its end value is neither a valid date nor a valid duration

  • #8249 b657a2c Thanks @mir-ashiq! - fix(sequence): allow hyphenated actor and participant names when a config object is attached
