Senior Elixir/Phoenix and backend engineer available for short-term contract work.
I help teams with difficult production systems: legacy codebases, technical debt, data pipelines, scraping/listing infrastructure, Postgres issues, backend architecture, and feature delivery when a project needs an experienced engineer who can get productive quickly.
If you have a messy codebase, stalled project, production issue, migration, or backlog of difficult backend work, I can start with a focused diagnostic engagement.
Typical format:
- 90-minute architecture/debugging call
- or 10–20 hours reviewing the codebase, logs, tickets, and deployment setup
- written findings and prioritized action plan
- initial fixes where possible
- option to continue hourly or as a short-term contract
This is meant to reduce risk before committing to a longer engagement.
- Elixir / Phoenix / LiveView
- Postgres, SQL, data modeling, performance issues
- Technical debt remediation
- Legacy Ruby / JavaScript systems
- Scraping, data munging, listing pipelines, ETL-style workflows

- Backend architecture and production debugging
- AI/RAG integration where a reliable backend and data pipeline are needed
- Creator of Alchemist Camp, with 200+ Elixir screencasts and tutorials
- Director of Engineering at Homepie, where I evaluated the codebase and team, removed 100K+ lines of technical debt, and built real-estate scraping/listing infrastructure for national expansion
- Sole architect of the initial distributed crypto trading platform for A1X
- Early full-stack engineer at Verbling, working across product, growth, and experimentation, including a v1 multi-armed bandit optimization system
- Senior technical consultant for startups since 2015
I’m based in Taipei, Taiwan, and work well asynchronously with US and international teams. I am a US citizen with a US bank account and can sign standard W-9 / 1099 contracts immediately.
I’m especially effective when teams can use the time zone difference productively: I can clear tickets, investigate bugs, review code, and push fixes while US teams are offline, with scheduled overlap for handoffs and decisions.
