…uped text boxes

Resolve wp14 percentage and alignment anchors for wpg groups, place text boxes by their rectangle inside the group frame, honour wps:style fillRef/fontRef, draw homePlate with its tip and respect rIns and the preset text rectangle. Draw outlines as a bounding box only for rectangles.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Improvements
    • DOCX-to-PDF conversion better preserves the placement of floating and grouped shapes, including page-relative alignment and percentage-based positioning.
    • Text boxes within grouped shapes are positioned more accurately, with improved text-area sizing and inset handling.
    • Shape fills, text colors, and pointed shapes are rendered more consistently.
    • Shape outlines better match their geometry, avoiding unwanted bounding-box edges on freeform shapes.

📝 Walkthrough

The DOCX reader now captures anchor placement, group dimensions, and text-box metadata. The converter uses this information to position floating text boxes and shapes, render home-plate geometry, and handle outlines. New tests cover placement, fills, grouped text, and outlines.

Changes: DOCX Shape Placement and Rendering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Read anchor and group metadata
src/MiniPdf/DocxReader.cs
The reader resolves anchor positions, including nested alternate content and percentage offsets. It records anchor and group dimensions, child offsets, text insets, and applicable style-derived fills and text colors.
Position and render shapes
src/MiniPdf/DocxToPdfConverter.cs, tests/MiniPdf.Tests/DocxGroupShapeTests.cs
The converter uses anchor and group dimensions for placement, adjusts text-box layout for insets and shape geometry, renders home-plate polygons, and avoids rectangular outlines on non-rectangular preset shapes. Tests cover these behaviors.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 2140d

Some nonrectangular shapes in headers and footers may show an unwanted bounding box. The impact is limited, so this is mergeable with an owner decision on whether to fix the outline first.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Header and footer shapes still draw a rectangular outline for every geometry.

RenderShape now limits the four-edge outline to rect and to shapes with no geometry. RenderHeaderFooterShape at Line 3388 still draws the outline for every shape that has a StrokeColor. A homePlate, ellipse, or custom-geometry shape in a header or footer therefore still gets a bounding box. Apply the same guard in both places.

-        if (shape.StrokeColor != null)
+        if (shape.StrokeColor != null && shape.PresetGeometry is null or "rect")
